Fire damages hunting lodge-events center near Brandon

BRANDON, Minn. -- A  hunting lodge and events center south of Brandon  in west-central Minnesota was ravaged by a fire that started Sunday night.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, at 10:50 p.m., a large fire was reported at  Long Lake Lodge, which is used for lodging, wedding receptions, community events, hunting trips and shooting sports.

The main lodge included a retail store, bar and restaurant facilities on the first floor. The second level included four bedrooms, a sauna, an 11-person hot tub, meeting room and a large stone fireplace. The grounds also a include a shooting range.

Firefighters from Brandon, Garfield, Evansville and Kensington arrived on scene to the lodge fully engulfed in fire.

As of 4 a.m., fire crews were still at the scene, but as of 7 a.m., most fire crews had cleared.

The fire is under investigation.
