Fire fatality remains under investigation, name not released

WILLMAR — The investigation by the Willmar Fire Department and the State Fire Marshal’s office into fire fatality discovered Tuesday morning is continuing, according to the Willmar Fire Chief.

“The whole thing is still under investigation,” Chief Gary Hendrickson said this afternoon, Hendrickson also noted that he would not officially confirm the identity of the person removed from the home until Friday.

However, an obituary for Frances Anderson, 91, of Willmar, has been received by the West Central Tribune from Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar. A Frances Anderson is listed on county property tax records as the owner of the home at 1210 Willmar Ave. S.E. According to the obituary, Anderson will be remembered with a service at 2 p.m. Friday at the Olivia City Cemetery in Olivia.

Firefighters, Willmar Police and Willmar Ambulance Service responded to the blaze after a passerby reported seeing no flames, but smoke coming from the eaves of the home, at 6:51 a.m. Tuesday, Hendrickson said Tuesday. The firefighers found fire in the kitchen and located the person in their search of the residence.
