Fire in one Sacred Heart, Minn. home displaces two families
SACRED HEART – A fire Saturday night in a bedroom of a Sacred Heart home has left two families seeking temporary shelter.
There may have been as many as 16 people, including 11 children, living in the house, said Sacred Heart Fire Chief Jeff Agre. He said the children include teenagers to toddlers.
The fire in the two-story home, located at 521 Second Ave. S., was reported at 9:30 p.m.
Everyone was able to get out safely, and there were no injuries.
Agre said the fire was contained to the bedroom where the blaze started and that the home could be repaired and inhabited again.
“There’s a lot of smoke damage,” said Agre. “They can’t live there till it gets cleaned up.”
Agre said the fire may have been caused by electrical problems but the investigation is still underway.
The Sacred Heart Fire Department was on the scene for about two hours, said Agre.
The American Red Cross is assisting the families.
