Fire, police investigating garage fire

WILLMAR -- The Willmar fire and police departments are investigating a Friday night garage fire on the city's southeast side.

The fire department was called around 9:20 p.m. Friday to 1004 Second Street Southeast. The fire was in an unoccupied and unused garage, according to Fire Chief Marv Calvin. The fire is believed to have started in a storage area and is suspicious in nature and not accidental, he said.

The department was on the scene for about 90 minutes and called the Kandiyohi Fire Department for mutual aid.
