The sheriff's office responded after a 911 call was received at 9:17 a.m. from an individual that found a friend non-responsive in his fish house on Lake Elizabeth, southwest of Atwater.

The victim was transported by Atwater Ambulance Service to Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar where he was pronounced dead.

The sheriff's office said the Atwater Fire Department was summoned back to the scene to assist a Willmar paramedic with one of the people that had entered and found the victim. This party was also suffering from respiratory issues and was transported by Willmar Ambulance Service to Rice Hospital, the sheriff's office said.

The name of the deceased is being withheld until notification of the family is completed.

The fish house was taken to the county evidence garage, according to an initial complaint report.
