Floor games at the auditorium

The venerable, rock-solid Willmar City Auditorium, built in the 1930s, is host to contemporary games like Monday Night Men's Basketball (right) and the Golden Gloves Boxing Club, shown during warm-up and conditioning at the indoor playground in the basement. Counting Wednesday's league, men's hoops has 25 teams. Boxing czar Kirk Davis had 27 adults and youth on Monday, including a half-dozen girls, for the first of two weekly 90-minute sessions. The basketball game is between Clara City Farmer's Co-op, in black shirts, and Farm Bureau. Tribune photos by Rand Middleton.
