Florence Anastacia Jacobs was born on April 22, 1923, in Roseland Township, Kandiyohi County. She was the daughter of Joseph Frank and Anna (Minkel) Lippert. Florence attended country school and Saint Aloysianum Catholic School through the 8th grade. On February 16, 1944, she was united in marriage to Henry Charles Jacobs at Saint Aloysius Catholic Church in Olivia, Minnesota. They lived and farmed in Crooks Township, north of Renville, where they raised 12 children. As a child of the Depression, Florence was frugal, practical, and had great common sense. Florence was a member of the Rosary and Altar Society of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. In 2003 she moved from the farm to Fairview Place in Olivia. In December 2012, she became a resident of RenVilla Nursing Home, Renville, Minnesota.

Florence enjoyed playing cards, cooking, gardening, sewing, and dancing, but most of all, she enjoyed her family. Nothing made her happier than when she was surrounded by family. She had the gift of hospitality which she shared with many people over her lifetime. Her children will always remember her faith, positive attitude, and grateful heart. Her grandchildren recall her pop floats, gum balls, and home baked bread with homemade red jam.

Survivors include her children: Joanne Balgaard of Olivia, Larry (Nancy) Jacobs of Olivia, Lyle (Judy) Jacobs of Rochester, Eileen (Gary) Melin of Rochester, Paulette (Ron) Svoboda of Olivia, Gloria Larson of Willmar, Marcia (Jerome) Taatjes of Spicer, Denise Reich (and friend Jeff Iverson) of Annandale, Nancy (Philip) Standfuss of Danube, Marlys (Keith) Sharpe of Danube, Kimberly (Dean) Boike of Willmar, and Loran (Betsy) Jacobs of Waconia, 32 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren; one brother, Rolland (and Evelyn) Lippert, three sister-in-laws, Bobbie Lippert, Arlene Lippert, and Fannie (Jacobs) Beyer, many nieces and nephews.
