Florence I. Erickson May 3, 1920 - Aug. 10, 2013

WILLMAR - Florence I. Erickson, 93 of Willmar died Saturday, August 10, 2013, at Bethesda Pleasant View in Willmar. Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 14 at Tripolis Lutheran Church in rural Kandiyohi. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 PM Tuesday at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at church.

Florence Irene Erickson (Swenson), daughter of Anton and Ruth (Bloomquist) Swenson, was born on May 3, 1920 in Clayton, Wisconsin. Florence attended elementary school in Districts 2 and 7 in Clayton, Wisconsin. In 1936, her family moved to Kandiyohi. She attended Willmar High School and graduated in 1938. After high school she worked for the phone company as a switchboard operator. While attending Tripolis Lutheran Church, she met Alton Erickson. On March 21, 1941, they were united in marriage.

As a farmer's wife, she and Alton moved frequently. Florence was always willing to travel because her home could be made anywhere. Florence and Alton were able to travel overseas to visit Sweden, Norway, and Denmark. She was a gentle and loving spirit and a woman of strong faith. She regularly started out the day in scripture. She was known to make the best ostkaka and she always had a warm cup of coffee and something to eat for those that came to visit.

Florence was a member of Tripolis Lutheran Church, WELCA, and the church quilters. She also served as the church financial secretary, a 4H leader and with Home Extensions.

Florence is survived by children: Dale (Karen) Erickson, Cathy (Robert) Schueler; grandchildren: Chad (Mollie) Erickson, Amanda Schueler, Ryan (Amber) Schueler; great grandchildren: Sydni Erickson, Garrett Erickson, Quinn Schueler; sister, Lorraine Elmquist; brother, Kenny (Lorraine) Swenson; and sister-in-law, Kathryn Swenson.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Alton, parents, and brother, Arnold Swenson
