DAWSON -- Floyd Elton Haakenson, 95, of Dawson, died Sunday at the Madison Lutheran Home in Madison.
The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson. Burial will be in Terrace Lawn Memory Garden Cemetery in rural Montevideo.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson.
He was born Jan. 4, 1914, in Baxter Township, Lac qui Parle County, to Jens and Elise (Bakken) Haakenson.
He married Darlene Olson on Sept. 12, 1948. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a farm employee for Ralph Hill, worked at the fertilizer plant for Rudy Prestholdt and retired after many years working on the city crew for the City of Dawson. He lived in at Parkview Apartments before moving to Prairie Meadows Assisted Living in Dawson. He entered the Madison Lutheran Home on March 12.
He was a member of the Strand-Saboe Veterans of Foreign Wars Post of Dawson.
He is survived by his children: Wanda Sis of Dawson, Curtis (and Sue) Haakenson of Fargo, N.D., and Steven (and Kathy) Haakenson of Eagle Grove, Iowa; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, three sisters and 10 brothers.
