Floyd R. Fjerstad Dec. 1, 1911 - April 22, 2009
LITCHFIELD -- Floyd Rodney Fjerstad, 97, of Litchfield died Wednesday at the Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield.
The service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield. Burial will be in the Lake Ripley Cemetery in Litchfield with military honors by the Litchfield Military Honor Guard.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service.
He was born Dec. 1, 1911, in Waubay, S.D. to John and Bertha Bendick .
He married Alice Hoel on April 18, 1937, in Hoffman. They lived in Browns Valley, Alexandria, Hoffman, Atwater and Litchfield. He served in the Navy during World War II from 1937 to 1941. He was a diesel mechanic in Hoffman and worked as a welder at Cozy Cab in Litchfield.
He is survived by his children: Betty Fjerstad of Minneapolis, Paul (and Mary) Fjerstad of San Diego, Steve Fjerstad of Grove City, Penny (and Tom) Jessop of Frazee, Stephanie (and David) Westlund of Waverly, Tom (and Cindy) Fjerstad of Woodbury and Joe Fjerstad of Mankato; 19 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife; and son: Ben.
