WILLMAR -- Edward Alan Ruchti, 32, of Minneapolis and formerly of Kerkhoven, has been ordered held in the county jail until a May 22 hearing regarding his alleged violation of probation conditions by having contact with one of his victims.

Ruchti ap-peared Tuesday before District Judge David L. Mennis in Kandiyohi County District Court. According to the probation violation report by 6W Community Corrections, Ruchti was specifically advised by his sex offender treatment counselors and his probation officer to not have contact with the woman.

Just a week after the probation officer reviewed the no-contact requirement, the woman contacted the officer and reported that Ruchti had left her multiple voicemail messages, sent her text messages and a letter in the mail and left flowers and a handwritten note on her doorstep during the night Sunday or Monday.

Based on that information, an arrest warrant was issued Monday and Ruchti was arrested in Chippewa County and transferred to the Kandiyohi County jail.

Ruchti is serving 18 years of probation -- a 91-month prison sentence was stayed -- in a 2002 first-degree assault case that nearly killed his then-wife.

In July 2011, after he was terminated from one sex offender treatment program, he was ordered to serve 180 days in jail and allowed to choose which sex offender treatment program he would attend to complete the requirements of his psycho-sexual evaluation.
