Timothy Huber pleads guilty to second-degree murder in 2011 shooting death of teacher

Former Willmar resident faces sex charges for assaulting girl

WILLMAR -- A 31-year-old man from Brownsville, Texas, made his first court appearance Tuesday on multiple criminal sexual conduct charges for allegedly molesting an 8-year-old girl while his family lived in Willmar.

Renato Rodriguez faces three first-degree charges and one second-degree charge in Kandiyohi County District Court. Unconditional bail was set at $100,000 with conditional bail at $50,000. His next court appearance is Feb. 16.

The court file shows Rodriguez also faces first-degree sexual abuse charges in Cameron County, Texas. His wife also faces charges for failure to report a felony. The alleged victim is currently in foster care in Kandiyohi County.

According to the local complaint, a police investigation began in June after a family services report indicated an 8-year-old girl had been sexually assaulted by Rodriguez during the summer and fall of 2008. The girl told an adult female relative that Rodriguez sexually touched her while her mother was busy doing household tasks.

The detective interviewed the adult relative, who confirmed the information, and reviewed the taped interview with the girl conducted by the Minnesota Child Resource Center. The girl told investigators the sexual abuse happened in both Texas and Willmar.
