Franken's staff to host Willmar hearing on senior issues
WILLMAR -- Staff with Sen. Al Franken's office will visit Willmar Thursday to hear from the area's senior population about the issues they face.
The meeting will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Willmar Community Center.
Input from this meeting, as well as from other listening sessions with older adults, will be used by Franken when the Older Americans Act is considered in Washington next year.
Franken serves on the Senate's Special Committee on Aging and on the Subcommittee on Retirement and Aging of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions. Next year both these panels will reauthorize the Older Americans Act, which funds many of the local services used by seniors.
