Free throws lift Waska to 10th win in row

MORRIS -- Minnewaska captured its 10th straight victory and improved its lead in the West Central South Conference girls basketball race with a 66-57 win over Morris/Chokio-Alberta Tuesday.

The Lakers (12-1, 14-3) were outstanding from the free-throw line, nailing 18-of-21 attempts. The Tigers (9-3, 15-4) made only 9 of 19.

Cassie Jacobs scored 20 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to pace Minnewaska. Sarah Faehnrich added 14 points and Emily Roering had 13 points and five steals.

Mary Rentz tallied 15 points for the Tigers. Heather Gagner added 13 points and Nicole Gillespie followed with 10.
