MURDOCK -- Fritchof "Fritz" Carl Aasen, 88, of Murdock, died Sunday at the Clara City Care Center.
The service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
He was born Jan. 30, 1921, in Colfax Township, Kandiyohi County, to Marcus and Clara (Engen) Aasen. He grew up near New London where he attended District 25 and District 104 country schools. He farmed with his family in the New London area. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1945, served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre and received an honorable discharge in 1946.
He married Alice Jensen on May 17, 1947, in Willmar. They lived and farmed in the New London/Sunburg area. He later worked for Perkin's Lumber in Willmar and for Jennie-O Foods in Willmar. In 1986, he retired and moved to Murdock. He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar, the Willmar American Legion and the Willmar Eagles Club.
He is survived by his children: Linda (and Bruce) Laffen of Willmar, Donavan Aasen of New London, Marvin (and Alice) Aasen of Willmar, Nancy (and Ron) Westphal of Maple Grove and Rosann (and Floribert) Schmitz of Roscoe; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and a sister: Ruby Tjernagel of Pennock.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1975; special friend: Eva Laughlin; daughter-in-law: RuthAnn Aasen; and one brother.
