Sheriff's office investigating Zorbaz robbery as false report

Frozen dog found in trash in Iowa

GRIMES, Iowa (AP) -- An investigation is under way into the discovery of a frozen dog in a trash bin in Grimes over the weekend.

Employees of J&D Computer Repair found the dog in a dog carrier in the Des Moines suburb on Saturday. Owner Jason Shiffer says workers discovered the dog while throwing out some trash.

Polk County Sheriff's Deputy Jana Rooker says the dog, described as a young Chihuahua, will be sent to a lab at Iowa State University to determine the cause of death.

Rooker says depending on the circumstances, those responsible could be charged with an aggravated or serious misdemeanor.

J&D Computer Repair is offering a $500 reward for information that leads to an arrest.
