To my friend: Let's not make this more complicated than it has to be. Under President Barack Obama, the workers of the middle class are rewarded and will keep more money, to save or spend. And under President Obama, those of us who make more than $250,000 per year will still pay fewer taxes than under President Reagan.
Health care McCain-style will benefit the few -- $5,000 to buy $12,000 insurance? President Obama will make sure all of our children are covered, even if you have lost your job. President Obama's plan makes sure your pre-existing condition doesn't exclude you from getting the care you need.
President Obama has a plan for an economic renaissance. A renaissance that is built upon the heartland. Renewable energy is the key to energy independence. Renewable energy lives in our soil, it warms our summer lakes, and it already turns our windmills. The same hands that build our homes, plow our fields, and service our industry will lift America to energy independence. The jobs, equity, stability, and prosperity afforded by Obama's plan are a rising tide that floats all boats.
Now, in a time when as a nation the challenges we face are so great, we need leadership with a plan.
Not the G.W. Bush, slanderous Swift Boat-style attacks offered by Sen. John McCain and Gov. Sarah Palin, designed to cast a shadow on the lack of ideas, "the ideas gap," so evident by the erratic behavior coming from the Republican ticket.
