Gary Telford Aug. 24, 1992 - June 28, 2009
APPLETON -- Gary Thomas Telford, 16, of Appleton, died Sunday as the result of a motorcycle accident.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church in Appleton.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Zniewski Funeral Home-Vaala Chapel in Appleton and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
He was born Aug. 24, 1992, at Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Jay and Patti (Lacrone) Telford. He attended Reede Grey Elementary School in Redwood Falls, Springfield Elementary and High School and was a student at Lac qui Parle Valley High School at the time of his death. Before moving to Appleton, he worked at Lang's Meat Market in Springfield. In Appleton, he worked at Don's Food Pride.
While attending school in Springfield he was a member of the FFA, on the Knowledge Bowl team, the Boy Scouts, and placed fourth in the Scripp Spelling Bee team for Springfield. He was also active with the Methodist Church in Springfield and volunteered at election time with the DFL Party. He decided to be an organ donor and, upon his death, his gift helped the lives of 46 people.
He is survived by his father of Appleton; mother of Springfield; siblings: Matthew (and Lisa) Lacrone of Dubuque, Iowa, Jaylene Telford of Appleton; grandparents: Charles Telford of Appleton and Gerald and Patricia Winger of Dubuque, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother: Romana Telford.
