George F. Geer

George F. Geer, 76 of Brooten, died Friday, March 21, 2014 at the Glen Oaks Care Center in New London. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 24, 2014 at the Assembly of God Church in Willmar. Burial will be in the Burbank Cemetery near New London. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the Johnson Funeral Home in New London and for one hour prior to the services at the church. www.hafh.org

George Franklyn Geer was born on July 27, 1937 on the family farm in Burbank Township. He attended Dist. #25 country school and New London High School, graduating in 1956. On August 15, 1958, George was united in marriage to Janice Giesler at Green Lake Lutheran Church. They made their home in Spicer until 1961 when they moved to the farm in Norway Lake Township. George maintained a small farm and worked at the Willmar Regional Treatment Center until his retirement in 1996. George and Janice were able to share in 50 years of marriage before her death on August 23, 2008.

George was a member of the Willmar Assembly of God Church and former member of Crystal Hills Assembly Church in Paynesville where he served as an usher and was a Royal Ranger teacher. He enjoyed trapping, hunting, farming, watching wildlife, ice fishing and four wheeling with his grandchildren.

George is survived by his children, Rosalie (Eric) Tormos of Carrollton, TX, Kathleen (Mark) Geselle of Byron, Thomas Geer of Brooten and Gary (Melissa) Geer of Brooten; 13 grandchildren, Natalie (Dan) Vita, Olivia Tormos, Alex, Abby, Arren and Andrew Geselle, Nicole Geer, Morgan, Mackenzie, Taylor, Rochelle, Mallory and Nathaniel Geer; siblings, Jim (Celeste) Geer, Gene (Charlie) Nesselhauf; and sisters-in-law, Jeanette Geer, Annette Geer and Marilyn Geer.

George was preceded in death by his wife, Janice; parents and brothers, Welcome, Bobby, Paul, Bill, Charles and Hugh.
