George John Hagemeyer was born on July 31, 1915, the son of John and Mamie Hagemeyer of Clara City. He attended grade school and then went off to work. He was a self-employed custom farmer. He worked for many farmers in the area doing corn shelling, backhoe and dozer work and in the winter snow blowing. George will always be remembered as the man who loved to tinker and build things; an inventor in his own right. This was very evident to anyone who remembers the corn sheller and snow blower that he built.
George was a lifetime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Clara City, where he was baptized on August 29, 1915 and confirmed his faith on March 27, 1932.
He married Louise (Dirksen) Hagemeyer on August 26, 1955 at Everly, Iowa. They made their home in Clara City.
George is survived by his daughter: Sandra (Joe) Scanlon of Clara City; son: Dennis (Marsha) Hagemeyer of Haxtun, Colorado; grandchildren: Jordan (Taylor) Hagemeyer, Kaitlin Hagemeyer and Noah Scanlon; sister: Grace Negen and a sister-in-law Henrietta Hagemeyer.
George was preceded in death by his wife Louise, parents John and Mamie Hagemeyer; brothers: Carl, Louie and Leonard Hagemeyer.
