PAYNESVILLE - Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Paynesville for George J. Fuchs, age 81, of Paynesville, who passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at the Koronis Manor with family by his side. Reverend Glenn Krystosek will officiate. Entombment will take place in the parish cemetery mausoleum.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday and after 10:00 a.m. on Saturday all at St. Louis Catholic Church in Paynesville. Arrangements are with the Daniel-Anderson Funeral Home in Paynesville.
George was born on July 5, 1932 in Lake Henry, Minnesota to Anton and Regina (Lieser) Fuchs. He married Jeanette Illies on August 27, 1956 at St. John's Catholic Church in Meire Grove. They lived and farmed by Lake Henry for many years, moving to Paynesville in 1985. George was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, the Sauk Centre Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Queen of Peace Assembly, the Knights of Columbus Council #3820, the Catholic Order of Foresters, St. Joseph's Society, and the Plowmen Association.
He enjoyed dancing, playing cards, traveling, winters in Arizona, reading, visiting with family and friends, and was a general handyman. George especially loved all the time spent with his family. He took his plowing competitions very seriously, winning many local, state, and national titles; highlighted by his representation of the United States in Africa in 1995.
George is survived by his daughters, Sharon (Steve) Meyer of Raymond, Lois (Loren) Engelby of Atwater, Denise (Tim) Smith of Raymond, Joyce (Joel) Roelike of Lake Henry, Brenda (Joey) Lieser of Meire Grove; 19 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; brother and sisters, Urban (Doreen) Fuchs of Paynesville, Alice (John) Stalboerger of Cold Spring, Bernie (Arlyn) Hedtke of Grove City; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jeanette in 2011; son-in-law, Lyle Mahn; sisters, Theresa and Rosemary.
