George W. Strom June 13, 1919 - June 3, 2008
WILLMAR -- George William Strom, 88, of Willmar died Tuesday at Rice Care Center in Willmar.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar. Burial will be at Cloverleaf Cemetery in Willmar.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar.
He was born June 13, 1919, in Danvers to Otto and Hannah (Tommerasen) Strom. He grew up in the Danvers area and attended Benson High School. They moved to Kandiyohi County in 1935 where he farmed with his father.
He married Blanche Gunderson on Sept. 5, 1943, near Willmar. They lived in Willmar. In 1951, he began working for Great Northern Railroad in Willmar and later in Minot, N.D. He went to work for Willmar Public Schools in 1962 as a custodian at Garfield Elementary and the Senior High schools. He retired in 1984.
He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church. He also was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2334.
He is survived by his wife; son: Dennis (and Janet) Strom of Wrangell, Alaska; two granddaughters; three great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a brother: Gordy (and Muriel) Strom of Willmar.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
