SPICER -- George Warren Wicklund, 82, of Spicer died Saturday at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.

The service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Faith Lutheran Church in Spicer. Burial will be in Spicer City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church and one hour before the service at the church. Johnson Funeral Home in New London is handling arrangements.

He was born Dec. 20, 1926, on the family farm in Lake Lillian to Henry and Nora (Olson) Wicklund. He grew up on the farm and received his education at a country school. He worked on the farm until he was a young adult when he moved to Willmar and began working for Sears.

He married Joan Liestman on June 19, 1954, in Paynesville. They lived in Willmar until 1962 when they moved to George Lake near Spicer. He worked for Sears for more than 30 years until the store closed. He worked for Nationwide Paint until he retired in 1988. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Spicer where he was an usher.

He is survived by his wife; children: Bradley (and partner Bob Aigner) of Monticello, Mark (and special friend Kimberly Phillips) of Cold Spring, Randy of Willmar and Jana (and Terry) Hald of Spicer; six grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by eight siblings.
