ST. CLOUD -- Gerald Leroy Kragenbring, 79, of Sartell, formerly of Spicer, died Wednesday from an extended illness at the VA Medical Center in St. Cloud.
A private family memorial service has been planned. Arrangements are with Benson Funeral Home of St. Cloud.
He was born March 24, 1929, in Atwater to Roy and Cecelia (Wheeler) Kragenbring. He attended Atwater High School and graduated from St. Cloud State University in 1951. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1951. He served as a combat pilot in the Korean War and during three tours of duty in Vietnam. He retired from the Air Force in 1971 as a lieutenant colonel and returned to the Spicer area where he became active in the real estate.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Kragenbring; children: Mary (and Jim) Burnett, Diana Chapin, Cynthia King, Gerri (and Mark) Strohbeen; Jeffrey (and Gretchen) Kragenbring and Theresa (and Tim) Minor; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
