Gerald Seffens Oct. 6, 1940 - Nov. 17, 2008
WILLMAR -- Gerald Roy Seffens, 68, of St. Paul, formerly of Willmar, died Monday at his home.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Peterson Brothers Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery with military honors provided by American Legion Post 167 of Willmar.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the services.
He was born Oct. 6, 1940, in Willmar to James and Juanita (Olson) Seffens. He grew up and received his education in Willmar. He joined the Air Force in 1959, served two tours of duty in Vietnam and retired from the military as a staff sergeant after 22 years.
He married Clairese Hopkins while he was stationed in Fairfield, Calif. He was transferred to air bases in Grand Forks, N.D., and in Michigan.
He was married to Peggy and they lived in Willmar. He worked for Jennie-O before moving to the Twin Cities in 1990.
He is survived by one daughter: Brenda Seffens of Fairfield, Calif.; one granddaughter; his mother, of Willmar; and siblings: Mitchell Seffens of St. Paul, Beatrice Haney of Willmar, Betty (and Jim) Himmelspach of Prinsburg, Virginia Burton of Minneapolis and Jolene McGee of St. Paul.
He was preceded in death by his father and his second wife.
