LOWER SIOUX INDIAN COMMUNITY -- "Canunpashawin" Geraldine M. Dow, 86, of St. Paul, formerly of the Lower Sioux Indian Community, died Monday at her home.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Cornelias Episcopal Church in the Lower Sioux Indian Community with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home in Redwood Falls and for two hours prior to the service at the church. Arrangements with Redwood Valley Funeral Home in Redwood Falls.
She was born Aug. 17, 1922, at the Pipestone Quarry to Stephen and Lydia (Taylor) Mireau. She attended Pipestone Boarding School beginning at the age of four. She worked in the shipyards in Seattle during World War II and then returned to Flandreau, S.D., where she worked as a seamstress.
She married Howard Dow after the war at Lower Sioux where they lived. She moved to the west side of St. Paul in 1969.
She is survived by her children: Dale (and Jan) Weston of Wisconsin, Patti (and Jim) Northrup of Sawyer, Cynthia Dow of the Lower Sioux, Paul (and Lori) Dow of the Lower Sioux, Tony (and Elaine) Dow of Redwood Falls; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a brother: Joe (and Vivian) Mireau of Prairie Island.
