Get ready for weekend weather change

WILLMAR — Get ready for a change in the weather this weekend as temperatures plunge from above freezing today to below zero by Saturday night.

Today the sky will be mostly sunny with a high near 38. The wind will be blowing out of the south-southwest at 10 to 15 mph becoming westerly in the afternoon. Tonight will be partly cloudy with a low around 19 and west wind 5 to 10 mph becoming southerly after midnight.

On Saturday patchy blowing snow will begin after 4 p.m. Cloudiness will increase, with a high near 31. Conditions will be blustery, with a light and variable wind becoming north 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon with wind gusts as high as 25 mph.

Saturday night will see a chance of snow and freezing drizzle before 7 p.m., then a chance of snow. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around -8. Wind chill values will be as low as -30. Blustery, with a north-northwest wind 20 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.

Sunday will see patchy blowing snow before 9 a.m. Conditions will be mostly sunny and cold, with a high near -3. North-northwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Sunday night, partly cloudy, with a low around -19. Wind west-northwest 5 to 10 mph.
