The company is known for its Giants Sunflower Seeds, promoted as the biggest sunflower seeds on the market. They are the official seeds of the Minnesota Twins and Colorado Rockies professional baseball teams.

The financial package for the Giant Snacks expansion includes money through state and federal programs. The company is expanding its work force from 19 full-time employees to 40.

About five years ago, U.S. Sen. Byron Dorgan of North Dakota helped resolve a dispute between Giant Snacks and Major League Baseball after the San Francisco Giants complained about the use of the word "Giants" and the block lettering on the seed packages.
