Gimse hosting town hall meeting to discuss Willmar veterans home plan
WILLMAR -- Sen. Joe Gimse, R-Willmar, will host a town hall meeting Monday to discuss a proposed 90-bed veterans home in Willmar.
The meeting will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Willmar Public Library's multipurpose room.
Also attending will be Rep. Al Juhnke, DFL-Willmar, Gil Acevedo, deputy commissioner for veterans' health care, and other local leaders.
The Department of Veteran's Affairs is requesting $28 million in bonding money for the facility. Plans are for a 75,000 square foot home that would house as many as 90 veterans or spouses in need of skilled nursing care.
The Federal Department of Veterans Affairs may partner with Minnesota to share costs for this construction.
