MORRIS -- Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City gave Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta its first West Central South Conference defeat of the season 67-45 in girls basketball action Monday.

The win puts the Falcons, Tigers and Minnewaska in a three-way tie for first place, each with one loss.

The Falcons (5-1, 6-5) dominated the boards 36-21 and shot 49 percent (23 of 47) from the field against the Tigers (6-1, 10-2). Kayla Dallmann led the way with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Liberty Slinden added 14 points and 13 boards. Miranda Hopp chipped in 13 points and Lauren Kinzler followed with 11.

Mary Rentz paced the Tigers with 12 points.

A balanced scoring attack allowed Minnewaska (6-1, 7-3) to stay in a close race for the conference lead. Nine players scored for the Lakers with Emily Roering, Brittany Mensing, Sarah Faehnrich and Cassie Jacobs all netting eight points each.

Brittany Dahlk scored a game-high 11 points for BOLD (1-7, 1-9).

Yellow Medicine East trailed the Eagles 36-26 in the second half when Aimee Johnson cranked out consecutive three-pointers to fuel a 9-0 Sting run.

In the last 20 seconds, Johnson hit two free throws and Lauren Trudel sank one to pull in front. Whitley Strei's three-point attempt to tie at the buzzer bounced off the front iron.

Johnson finished with 19 points and five steals and Trudel 12 points. Whitney Swenson got nine rebounds.

Micaela Erickson scored a game-high 21 points and nabbed eight rebounds for LQPV. Andrea Rheingans hit for 16 points.
