Girls Basketball: BOLD tops Monte for first win, 58-50

OLIVIA -- BOLD shot only 32 percent from the field, but the Warriors outrebounded Montevideo 38-21 to earn a 58-50 win in the West Central South Conference Thursday.

The Warriors (1-1, 1-2) led 27-19 at halftime before the teams played an even second half.

Melissa Benson scored 12 points and Megan Novotny amassed a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds to pace the Warriors. Alison Agre netted nine points and added three assists and two steals while Leah Miller grabbed nine rebounds.

Danielle Jensen led a balanced attack for the Thunder Hawks (1-1, 1-2) with 10 points. Kara Nelson followed with nine points and Rikka Boike piled up eight points, four rebounds and three blocks.

Audrey Formo got 19 of her career-high 25 points in the second half as Yellow Medicine East hung on to trip Central Minnesota Christian in a high-scoring second half (60 points were scored).

Formo got many of her buckets off her nine steals, coming off a half-court trap.

Kristin Hegna supplied eight assists and seven points and Kristina Kietzmann eight points and eight rebounds.

Elizabeth Bulthuis got 15 points for CMCS followed by Kari Mulder with 13 and Hillary Slagter with 12, plus 10 rebounds.
