Girls Basketball: Canby repels MACCRAY comeback bid in opener

CLARA CITY -- Canby held off MACCRAY 61-57 in the Camden Conference girls basketball season opener for both teams Tuesday.

The Wolverines trailed by 11 points with about eight minutes left in the game, then eventually cut the lead to two points. But Canby, which shot 40 percent (14 of 35) from the free-throw line, made four of its last six from the charity stripe.

Riley Nordgaard scored 21 points, followed by Courtney Slaba with 19, to lead the Lancers.

Jenna Tebben posted a double-double of 20 points and 11 rebounds to pace the Wolverines. She also had seven assists. Alicia Koenen added 19 points, seven rebounds and four steals.
