COLD SPRING — The Willmar Cardinals topped Rocori 46-43 on Tuesday without an offense in the second half.

Well, not much offense.

The Cardinals didn’t make a shot from the floor after the 11:00 minute mark.

Still, the defense played strong enough to tame the Spartans and even Willmar’s record at 6-6 and 4-3 in the CLC. The Cards made 15 thefts, seven by guard Courtney Magnuson.

Willmar struggled at the free-throw line, making 13 of 25 tries, and ball control with 27 turnovers while Rocori had 21.

The subs led Willmar in scoring. Entering off the bench, Leah  Ruter scored 14 points and Lexi Orlowski and Kaitlynn Kienholz 9 apiece.

“Leah had a huge game scoring and rebounding. Lexi and Kaitlynn were a combined six of eight on free throws. It feels good to scrape out a win on the road,” Willmar coach Dustin Carlson said.

Willmar led by as much as 12 and 30-25 at the split.

Maggie Young’s 11 points led the Spartans (4-4, 5-10).
