Girls Basketball: Cards upend Sartell to snap 5-game skid

WILLMAR — The Willmar girls basketball team blew past Sartell in the first half and cruised to an easy 68-48 win over the Sabres in a Central Lakes Conference game on Monday at Willmar High School.

Courtney Magnuson played well, scoring 13 points and finishing with 9 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals to help Willmar snap a five-game losing streak that started with a 56-52 setback to Sartell on Feb. 6.

Jordan Martins also scored 13 points and Sami Doering hit a pair of 3-point shots and scored 12 points.

Kaitlynn Kienholz scored 9 points and Leah Ruter checked in with 8 points.

The Cardinals took a 22-point lead in the first half. They play host to Worthington at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
