ACGC’s Larson nets 1,000th career point

MADISON — Sydney Larson scored her 1,000th career point on Thursday night as Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City beat Lac qui Parle Valley 50-35.

The 5-foot-10 senior forward came into the West Central South Conference game needing seven points.

Perhaps she felt some pressure because she had only two points, on free throws, at halftime.

But early in the second half she hit a three-pointer and then got free on a breakaway trailing two Eagles and made a layup to hit 1,000 points.

The game was stopped and the other nine girls on the court took turns offering congratulations. Fans applauded and the game ball was given to her parents.

Jordan Halvorson scored 14 points for the Eagles and Alaysia Freetly contributed 9 points and 12 rebounds.
