Girls Basketball: Fragodt nets 1,000th point as Benson stymies ACGC

BENSON -- Abby Fragodt scored the 1,000th point of her career and Benson knocked off West Central South Conference co-leading Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City 51-48 on Friday night.

Fragodt, a junior forward, scored her 1,000th point within the first two minutes of the game on a jumper in the lane. The game was stopped and she was presented with the game ball. Fragodt is only the third girl from Benson to eclipse the 1,000-point mark. She finished with nine points and now has 1,007 in her career.

Julia Ahrndt cashed 6-of-6 free throws down the stretch to help the Braves (5-5, 10-7) seal the win. She made all 10 of her foul shots in the game and finished with 16 points. Jenny Bouta had nine points and 13 rebounds.

Benson made 20-of-27 free throws, while ACGC (7-2, 9-7) made only 4-of-16.

Kayla Dallmann had 17 points and nine rebounds for the Falcons. Miranda Hopp had 12 points and Lauren Kinzler 10. Liberty Slinden led with 10 rebounds.

Micaela Erickson had 20 points and 15 rebounds to spark Lac qui Parle Valley (5-6, 9-6) in a defensive battle. The Eagles were able to get 17 points from the free-throw line while BOLD (1-10, 1-12) was only 3-for-6 from the charity stripe.

Tara Hilgert had 11 points to pace a balanced attack for the Warriors, who owned a slim 25-23 lead at halftime. Brittany Dahlk nearly posted a double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds.
