Girls Basketball: Lensing leads BBE past Pierz

PIERZ -- Heidi Lensing scored 27 of her game-high 32 points in the second half, including the eventual game-winner with 11 seconds left to lead Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa to a 55-52 win over Pierz in Central Minnesota Conference action Thursday night.

Emily Roelike added a free throw for the final total and finished with 12 points for the Jaguars (5-1, 10-4).

The Wildcats, ranked No. 2 in Class AA, sprang out to a 20-4 lead in the first half and held Mora to 13 points.

New London-Spicer opened up its bench with 11 players scoring at least two points, led by Justin Dammermann with 16, including four 3-pointers. Taylor Thompsen added 13 points and Cassie Ziemer had 10.

The Wildcats were also 17 of 19 (89 percent) from the free-throw line.
