Girls basketball: Montevideo grabs a win

GROVE CITY — Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City’s 3-point shot at the buzzer for the tie roll off the rim and Montevideo escaped with a 48-45 victory on Thursday.

Montevideo improved to 6-1 in the West Central Conference and 8-3 overall while the Falcons fell to 3-3 in the league and 5-8 overall.

Montevideo’s Ashley Hoehne scored a team-high 14 points and 6 rebounds. Morgan Reidinger had 9 and Tia Diggins scored 8. Chelsey Hass had 6 points, 5 assists and a pair of steals.

Sydney Larson led the Falcons with 17 points and 10 boards, and Jacey Nelson hit two 3-pointers and finished with 10 points. Shelby Schroeder and Erica Melbie both scored 7.

ACGC plays next against Melrose at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
