Girls Basketball: NLS gives North bragging rights

GLENWOOD -- Behind two runs in the first half, New London-Spicer upended Minnewaska 52-46 in the West Central inter-conference girls basketball championship Friday.

NLS, the North champions, went on a 11-0 run early in the first half to take a 14-4 lead. Minnewaska, the South champions, got within three at 21-18 late in the half, but the Wildcats then pieced together a 6-0 run to take a comfortable 30-20 lead at halftime.

Abbey Knisely led an even scoring attack for the Wildcats (25-1) with nine points. Justine Dammermann followed with eight. Seven players in all for NLS had at least six points.

Emily Roering recorded 15 points to lead the Lakers (17-7). Cassie Jacobs added 12 points and eight rebounds.
