Update: Shots fired outside Zorbaz in Spicer early Sunday

Girls Basketball: NLS repels Albany, 53-50

ALBANY -- Justine Dammermann and Karli Wendlandt did all their scoring in the second half to fuel a New London-Spicer comeback that tipped the Albany Huskies 53-50 Tuesday in West Central North girls basketball.

The Wildcats (8-1, 14-2) trailed 19-17 at halftime and by six points with six minutes left in the second half.

Wendlandt got all 13 of her points and Dammermann all 11 after intermission. Free throws played a big part with the Wildcats cashing 15 of 23 the second half.

NLS tied it 45-45 with 2:17 left, then won it with free throws down the stretch, three by Dammermann.

Nicole Ramler, whose 14 points supported a team-high 17 by Emily Goering, bounced a three-pointer to tie off the rim at the buzzer.

Wendlandt also grabbed 14 rebounds. Taylor Thompsen was 4 of 4 in the second half at the line to finish with 12 points and Abbey Knisley blocked seven shots to go with eight points and seven rebounds.
