BENSON -- Kayla Schaefer scored 21 points Saturday to help lift Paynesville past Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa 54-40 in the championship game of the Fibrominn Invite.

The unbeaten Bulldogs (3-0) led 30-24 at halftime and limited the Jaguars (1-1) to just three trips to the free throw line. Paynesville was 11-for-14 from the foul line.

Brooke Wuertz added 10 points, Erika Schlangen 9 and Rachel Ampe 8 for Paynesville.

Pacing BBE in scoring was Becca Gruber with 10 points, Mariah Rach 9 and Peyton Miller 8. Rach knocked down three treys.

MACCRAY (1-2) never trailed in the second half en route to picking up its first win of the season. Pacing the Wolverines were Ali Siverhus with her game-high 14 points and Brooke Gould with 9 points, 6 assists and 3 steals.

Emma Peterson had 12 points and Alexa Nissen another 10 for Benson (0-3). Peterson also grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds while Cyra Carlson hooked another 7.

Second-half rally sparks Bluejays

PRINSBURG -- A second-half rally propelled Central Minnesota Christian past Heritage Christian Academy 51-34 Saturday in a non-conference game.

The visiting Eagles (0-3) owned a slim 17-16 lead at intermission, but the Bluejays (2-1) doubled up HCA 35-17 in the final 18 minutes of play.

Three Bluejays scored in double figures with Alexis Scott leading the way with 17 points. Scott also pulled down 8 rebounds, assisted on 4 baskets and made 4 steals.

Karisa Wubben and Christine Mikelson added 10 points each. Wubben also supplied CMCS with 7 rebounds and 7 assists.

A 16-0 run that started in the first half and spilled into the second ignited Litchfield and kept the Dragons unbeaten at 3-0.

Greta Walsh paced the Dragons with 27 points -- 18 in the second half to nearly outscore Breckenridge (20) by herself.

Litchfield also got a near double-double of 12 points and 9 rebounds from Kristen Klaben and 11 points from Kelsey Fisher. Bailey Koch added 6 rebounds and 3 steals and Walsh 5 steals.
