Girls basketball roundup: Bluejays bounce RCW

RENVILLE — A tough shooting night, from the field and the line, doomed Renville County West in a 59-43 Camden Conference loss to Central Minnesota Christian School on Thursday.

The Bluejays limited RCW to 14 of 63 shooting and the Jaguars hit just 15 of 33 foul shots.

CMCS’ Lexi Scott had 12 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists, Carissa Wubben had 10 points and 3 steals, and Danielle Wubben finished with 9 points.

RCW’s Sadie Treml had a game-high 17 points and Morgan Zaske had 11 points, 10 rebounds and 6 steals. Steph Wersal collected 11 rebounds and Nora Kronlokken had 6 points and 7 rebounds.

The Jaguars play host to BOLD at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in Renville.

Ball pressure was key to the Dawson-Boyd victory over MACCRAY in a Camden Conference game Thursday in Dawson.

The Blackjacks collected 22 steals and limited the Wolverines to 26 percent shooting. MACCRAY managed just 19 percent on 2-point shots and were outrebounded 40-19.

D-B’s Justine Lee had 18 points, 7 rebounds and 10 steals and Justine Flattum finished with 14 points and 7 boards.

MACCRAY’s Ali Siverhus led her team with 11 points and Alicia Ervin had 8.

The Lakers picked up their first win over the season in a non-conference game against St. John’s Prep on Thursday at Minnewaska High School.

Mady Phillips led the Lakers with 18 points and she also had 4 steals. Bayley Pooler had 11 points and 4 steals and Ashlyn Guggisberg finished with 10 points and 6 assists.
