MADISON — Lac qui Parle Valley didn’t score a field goal in the last 13 minutes of the game but made 21 points on free throws to down Russell-Tyler-Ruthton 58-55 in overtime on Thursday.

After tying at 49 in regulation, RTR (1-4, 2-6) scored first in OT but the Eagles (6-0, 6-1) came back one point at a time, going 9-for-14 on free throws.

Alaysia Freetly with 23 points and Kaitlin Connor with 24 each scored career highs, and Freetly double-doubled with 10 rebounds.

Aundrea DuFrane added 6 assists and 5 steals.

The Eagles next play Tuesday at defending Class A champion Minneota.

Canby 61, CMCS 52

A strong second half and free throw shooting down the stretch helped Canby defeat Central Minnesota Christian School in a Camden Conference game on Thursday.

CMCS fell to 3-3 in the league and 5-4 overall while Canby won its eighth game and now is 4-2 in the conference.

CMCS led 27-26 at halftime but Canby pulled away in the second half and hit free throws down the stretch to hold off the Bluejays.

CMCS’ Lexi Scott had 21 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists, and Karissa Wubben finished with 11 points, 6 rebounds and 5 steals.

Ali Siverhus and Becka Kimpling both scored 9 points to lead the Wolverines, and Emily Orwick had 8 points and 7 rebounds.

Alicia Ervin finished with 7 points, 4 assists and 7 steals.

Cassandra Hook and Jessie Nelson both scored 15 points for TMB.
