GIrls basketball roundup: Greiner nets 1,000th career point to spark Owls' win over MACCRAY

HANCOCK — Courtney Greiner surpassed 1,000 career points and the Owls won a non-conference home game 56-42 over MACCRAY on Monday.

Greiner needed 11 coming into the game and reached the milestone in the first half. She finished with 18 points, 8 rebounds and 4 steals.

Serandon Bigalke had 13 points and 5 steals.

MACCRAY’s Brooke Gould scored 13 points and had 3 assists and 6 steals. Taylor Grussing had 9 points and 7 rebounds.

Sisters Megan and Emily Friedrich, both 5-foot-8 guards, combined for 32 of the Chargers’ 47 points with Megan, a senior, hitting 19 points while her sophomore sister came in with 13.

Wabasso, at 12-1, leads the Tomahawk by one game after previous co-leader MN Valley Lutheran lost to Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s 60-58 on Monday.

Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart’s Michelle Melsha led the Mustangs with 11 points and 8 rebounds while Mara Olinger and Ashley Tintes both scored 10.
