Girls basketball roundup: Monte’s Hass a hit at line

MONTEVIDEO — The Thunder Hawks held a the lead by a whisker at halftime (25-24), but opened up a six point lead midway through the second half on the way to a 56-49 win over Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City on Friday in West Central South girls basketball.

Montevideo’s Chelsea Hass sank 10 of 13 free throws the second half to keep the Falcons’ off the lead. The junior guard finished with 16 points.

Ashley Hoehne, a junior forward, nabbed 7 rebounds and contributed 18 points to the win, the T-Hawks’ 12th overall.

Erica Melbie with 18 points, Sydney Larson with 17 and Katie Moore at 10 countered for the Falcons.

Larson and Jacey Nelson each had 7 rebounds but the visitors were outboarded 31-21.

Natalie Feldhake added 9 points to the Monte cause.

Sam Dunn scored 15 points and head 5 assists and 5 steals to lead the Saints to a Camden Conference win.

Jenna Berget added 9 points and 5 steals and Ali Clark scored 7.

Taylor Grussing led the Wolverines with 11 points and Ali Siverhus had 8.

Central Minnesota Christian jumped on Lakeview right away and didn’t let up in a Camden Conference game on Friday in Prinsburg.

CMCS, which allowed the Lakers just 13 first-half points, improved to 6-6 in the league and 11-7 overall.

Jaci Swart led the Bluejays with 17 points and Karisa Wubben had 10 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and a pair of steals.

Dani Wubben scored 10 points and Lexi Scott and Abby Zwart both added 8 points.
