MORRIS — New London-Spicer rolled out to a comfortable halftime lead and cruised to a win over former West Central Conference foe Morris/Chokio-Alberta on Thursday.

Taylor Thunstedt scored 29 points and made 7 steals in the Wildcats’ 73-54 win over the Tigers.

Megan Thorson scored 14 points and grabbed 5 rebounds and Reiley Ness hit three 3-point shots and finished with 9 points.

Ashlyn Geister scored 6 points and had a team-high 9 rebounds.

MCA’s Becca Holland scored 10 points and also pulled down 6 rebounds and Kayla Pring finished with 6 points and a team-high 9 boards.

KMS advanced in the Section 3A-North playoffs with a victory over Lincoln HI on Thursday.

Kalli Forsell and Katie Wilts both notched double-doubles, with Forsell scoring 12 points and grabbing 11 rebounds and Wilts going for 11 points and 10 boards.

The Saints’ Maddi Strandberg also scored 12 points and had 3 steals.

The Saints play next against Canby at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Montevideo.

A defensive-minded first half that saw MACCRAY own a slim 15-14 lead changed over to a mild shootout in the second half as the teams combined for 61 points.

The victory puts Renville County West (7-13) into Saturday’s quarterfinals against top-seeded Minneota at 11 a.m. in Montevideo.

Morgan Zaske supplied the Jaguars with a double-double of a game-high 14 points and 10 rebounds, and Sadie Treml and Nora Kronlokken followed with 13 points each. Treml also hooked 8 rebounds, while Stephanie Wersal supplied 4 steals.

MACCRAY (5-20) was paced by Kaylee Hammerschmidt’s double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds. Becka Kimpling also grabbed 11 rebounds, Ali Siverhus scored 10 points and Alicia Ervin had 9 points and 4 steals.
