MORRIS — Sauk Centre’s 3-point shooting was a killer for Morris/Chokio-Alberta, which fell 64-49 to the Mainstreeters in a West Central Conference game on Thursday.

Sauk Centre’s Ali Peterson hit six of the team’s 12 3-pointers and finished with 24 points.

Only six of the Mainstreeters’ 18 total field goals came from inside the 3-point line.

MCA’s Beth Holland scored a team-high 19 points and Becca Holland added 9 points.

Lacee Maanum and Kaitlin Vogel led the Tigers with 8 rebounds apiece, and Lauren Reimers had 6 points, 5 assists and 3 steals.

The Tigers are back in action hosting Ortonville at 7:30 p.m. today.

The Lakers limited Melrose to just nine second-half points in a West Central Conference victory on Thursday in Glenwood.

Madi Phillips led the Lakers with 18 points, Bayley Pooler hit all four Minnewaska 3-pointers and finished with 16 points, and Carley Stewart had 14 points and team-highs of 7 rebounds and 7 assists.

The Lakers play Litchfield at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in Glenwood.

Karol Algarate added 11 points and Kayla Crowell 9.

It was the fourth win for the youthful Owls, who have only two seniors — Algarate and Sami Schmidgall who finished with 5 points.
