MONTEVIDEO -- Montevideo rolled past Benson to win its season opener 58-43 in a West Central South Conference game Tuesday in Montevideo.

Montevideo held a slim lead at the half before pulling way with 31 points in the second.

Ashley Hoehne paced the T-Hawks with 19 points, and Natalie Feldhake and Tia Diggins had 8 points each with Feldhake grabbing 6 rebounds.

Chelsey Hass added 6 points and 3 steals.

Benson's Emma Peterson had a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds, and added 5 assists and 4 steals.

Paynesville's Rachel Ampe made 1 of 2 free throws with 9 seconds showing in the second half to break a 47-all tie.

Waska took a timeout but failed to execute a play as the horn sounded.

Ampe finished with 17 points.

Veronica Weisel scored 10 points for the Lakers, who rallied from a 9-point deficit in the second half to tie the score at 47 with 40 seconds left.

Bailie Kubesh had 20 points and Carly Sigurdson scored another 19 to help BOLD outlast Central Minnesota Christian 64-58 Tuesday in a battle of old Two Twelve Conference rivals playing their season openers.

The Warriors captured a 37-23 lead at halftime before being outscored by eight in the second half. Both squads shot fairly well from the field -- CMCS 57 percent and BOLD 50 percent -- despite turning the ball over a combined 55 times.

Taylor Ebnet added 10 points, five rebounds and five steals, and Maggie Nagel pulled in 11 rebounds for BOLD. Sigurdson also made five steals.

Dani Wubben scored a game-high 22 points for the Bluejays, but only Karisa Wubben (10 points) was able to also score in double figures. Dani also led the team by collecting seven steals and five assists. Mary Covert had a team-high five rebounds.

Courtney Greiner had 12 points and seven rebounds to pace Hancock in its season opener. Sami Schmidgall pulled down a team-high nine rebounds and also assisted on three baskets.

Four players scored in double figures for Pelican Rapids, which made eight 3-pointers while the Owls didn't attempt a shot from beyond the arc.

Lac qui Parle Valley squandered an early lead and Dawson-Boyd had a 31-point second half to beat the Eagles 54-45.

LQPV led 27-23 at the half, but managed just 18 points in the second, including a 6-minute stretch without a point.

Mari Lee racked up 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 steals for the Blackjacks.

Justine Lee added 9 points, 5 assists and 8 steals, and Katarina Kuhlmann had 10 points and 3 steals.

Alaysia Freetly had 19 points for the Eagles and drained three 3-pointers.

LQPV will face Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg on Friday, while the Blackjacks will travel to Montevideo on Thursday.

Greta Walsh scored 26 points and Litchfield came to back to win its season opener over Watertown-Mayer.

The Dragons got behind towards the end of the first half and trailed 31-27 but scored 40 points in the second to put it away.

Walsh added 5 assists and 7 steals, and Kristen Klaben had a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds.

The Dragons next play Friday at Wheaton/Herman-Norcross.
