Girls basketball roundup: Tigers devour Thunder Hawks

MORRIS — Morris/Chokio-Alberta’s Katie Holzheimer tied the school record for career 3-point shots and the Tigers breezed by Montevideo 51-28 on Friday night.

Holzheimer has 109 career 3-pointers after hitting three against the Thunder Hawks. The senior guard is tied with former Tiger Allison Donovan, who set the mark in 2000.

The Tigers have three regular-season games remaining, and they play a boys/girls doubleheader at Breckenridge at 6 p.m. today.

Holzheimer led the Tigers on Friday with 13 points and she also had 6 rebounds.

The Tigers’ Beth Holland had 12 points and MaKenzie Smith had 10 points and a team-high 8 rebounds.

The Tigers played the last week without regular Tracy Meichsner, who injured the ACL of her right knee in a practice drill and will miss the rest of the season.

Montevideo’s Tia Diggins and Ashley Hoehne both scored 9 points, but the T-Hawks managed just 11 second-half points against a tough Morris/CA defense.

Brooke Wuertz added 13 points for the Bulldogs (12-9), and Rachel Rittenhouse had 5 points and 8 rebounds.

YME’s Dani Aus collected 16 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals.
