MORRIS — In a matchup of two West Central Conference contenders, Morris/

Chokio-Alberta edged Montevideo in a tight game 52-48 on Tuesday.

Tied late in the second half, the Tigers took the lead for good on free throws.

Beth Holland paced the Tigers (10-2, 12-5) with 13 points, and Lacee Maanum double-doubled on 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Becca Holland added 6 points, 5 assists and 7 steals.

Montevideo’s Morgan Reidinger scored 16 points and Ashley Hoehne 12.

Montevideo fell to 10-2, 14-6, and into a second-place tie with the Tigers.

They trail No. 4-ranked Sauk Centre, which was 10-1, 13-4 going into Tuesday night’s game.

The Tigers next play Friday at home against Melrose, and Montevideo hosts Paynesville on Thursday.
